Program elements include outdoor party space, outdoor chapel, children's play area, and improved parking and pedestrian circulation. The expansive and yellowing lawn called for a low-maintenance native meadow; a labyrinth was added as an outdoor bandstand; and a kid-friendly playspace found a home behind the on-site school. The Sylvan Chapel, lined with hydrangea, was situated off the community space for summertime weddings; the parking lots were combined to the West of the Sylvan Chapel, at an elevation of 6 feet lower, to provide lovely sunset views during ceremonies. An elevated patio was built off the kitchen for potlucks and catered events; pathways were simplified and smoothened to allow easier access for an aging congregation; and a bible garden, benches and memorial grove were planted at the main entrance, where people tend to gather and chat each week after services.
